    Description

Come and relive the glory days of the much-missed Scala Cinema, doyen of the 1980s London rep cinema circuit. Scala founder Stephen Woolley and Scala film programmer Jane Giles will be joining us for a look back at the cinema which is still as fondly remembered for its unique atmosphere as for its adventurous programming. Where else in London could you see in any given month the likes of all-night Shock Around The Clock horrorfests; Mexican wrestling movies with optional audience costumes; Tarkovsky double bills; Eraserhead, Freaks, The Golden Turkey Awards, Channel 4’s “Worst of Hollywood” Friday night previews; Russ Meyer films; Paul Verhoeven’s Dutch films … and of course Thundercrack! The list goes on….

Stephen and Jane will be showing clips from some of their most memorable Scala favourites and we hope there will be a chance to buy copies of the brand new Scala retrospective book which you can read about here https://www.fabpress.com/scala-cinema-book.html.

Doors open at 18.30, for a 19.30 start.

Refreshments will be available in our licensed cafe/bar.
