Description
Tuned In London presents an evening with two Parisian multi-instrumentalist singer songwriters both united by their French connection: Maïa Barouh, defiantly "Harfu" Japanese, and Blumi, who mixes her French blood with British.
Maïa Barouh, マイア・バルー, known for her striking and theatrical stage presence, her volcanic energy, her humour, her madness, and her incredible, borderless musicianship, will take us in this intimate setting to the heart of her multiple roots, where melancholy and trance, percussion and electronic music, rap and ancestral chants come together to form one. Her latest album 'AÏDA' ("Between", "間 ") is surely the only purely Franco-Japanese album, as much in the lyrics as in the music, evoking anti-Asian racism, feminism, exile and above all the questioning of her identity.

Emma Broughton, aka Blumi, deft on flute, guitar, bass, synths, combines a hint of French flair with the British obsession with melody. Blumi carves her songs to the bone, laying them bare in all their beauty, her mesmerizing voice acting as the unifying factor, the calling card to the listener’s ears. Hers are special songs that take time to materialise, like minerals slowly emerging from the deep black holes of the Earth. They are well worth the wait.
