Description
An enchanting evening of opera performed by classically trained musicians will take place in Lund to raise funds for Ovarian Cancer Action who work in raising awareness and scientific research.
The musical evening has been organised by Mrs Sue Straw from Watton, Driffield, after her youngest daughter Amy was diagnosed with a rare form of Germ Cell Ovarian Cancer last year.
Ovarian cancer has four main symptoms:
- Persistent stomach pain
- Persistent bloating
- Difficulty eating/feeling full more quickly
- Needing to wee more frequently
Sue's eldest daughter, Kathryn, is a classically trained soprano. Kathryn asked a group of friends whether they would give up their time to help support this important cause, all of whom said yes without any hesitation. We are so grateful to them for their kindness and generosity in supporting this event.
The evening consists of 3 singers:- Kathryn Straw (soprano), Beca Davies (Welsh mezzo soprano), Ingunn Gyda Hrafnkelsdottir (Icelandic soprano) and a Polish classical pianist, Edyta Mydlowska. Kathryn, Beca and Edyta all trained at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, whilst, Ingunn trained in Iceland at the The Reykjavik Academy of Singing. They will be performing a variety of operatic arias and duets from well-known classics to some lesser known, but beautiful pieces of opera.
