    Description

Matter is a platform, research studio and consultancy exploring the relationship between materials, ideas and processes. Launching at One Good Deed Today, during the London Design Festival, Matter presents a series of talks, workshops and events.

Living in a Material World is an exhibition taking you on a journey of experiencing materiality through all five senses including talks, events and workshops.

25th September is the day of Smell and we've got 2 speakers and a demonstration continuing the Festival.

Our sense of smell is believed to have a direct link to our emotional memory. Amy Radcliffe talks us through the Madeleine; a “scent camera” which resembles a bell jar and uses headspace capture that resembles an analogue odour camera.

Please help her further her research by filling out this short survey.

The Madeleine is, to all intents and purposes, an analogue odour camera. Based on current perfumery technology, Headspace Capture, The Madeleine works in much the same way as a 35mm camera. Just as the camera records the light information of a visual in order to create a replica The Madeleine records the molecular information of a smell.
