BBZ - DJ
Since their first exhibition-cum-shubz in April 2016, BBZ have been remoulding what queer nights look like on London’s club scene. Their format: a for-us-by-us style of art curation followed by a party, which showcases the best in QTIPOC art work and DJs.
The duo behind BBZ are filmmaker Nadine Davis and photographer Tia Simon-Campbell, who draw on the creative output of south London to ensure they always bring in the most hype and the best-dressed crowds around. From recreating a Caribbean living room at gal-dem’s V&A takeover, to setting up a queer Valentine’s pottery class for loved ones to re-enact that scene from Ghost, to teaming up with Peckham-based radio station Balamii and south London’s most-loved chicken shop branch Morley’s for a party, BBZ’s creative collaborations are as diverse as their audiences.
JAMES MASSIAH - DJ
James Massiah is a poet and musician from South London. His work explores ideas about mortality, sex and religion. He has given readings of his poetry at the Tate Modern, The Southbank and the Houses of Parliament and has received commissions to produce work for the BBC and the Guardian. A pioneer of raw talent James is founder of The A & The E, a platform for the discussion of the arts and philosophy – curating poetry and music events across London.
