    Description

Atmospheric Aphrodisiacs – the world’s first aphrodisiac cloud for Valentine’s Day

To celebrate Valentine’s Day, Bompas & Parr is hosting Atmospheric Aphrodisiacs – the world’s first aphrodisiac cloud at Alcoholic Architecture in Borough Market. The cloud (in full fog between the 11th-13th February) is formed of gin infused with sassafras bark, noted for both its aphrodisiac and psychoactive properties. The installation is the world’s first alcoholic weather system for your tongue where meteorology and mixology collide.

    The Waft that Woos

Sassafras was once revered by North American native Indians as a “love tree” and can promote profound stimulation, erotic excitation, perceptual changes, and particularly a more profound sensitivity in the emotional domain. In excessive amounts (not unlike MDMA) it can cause enlargement of the pupils, cramping of the chewing muscles, cold sweats, nervousness and unease. Rest assured these levels will not be reached over the course of a single visit to Atmospheric Aphrodisiacs.

Dosage will be carefully controlled across the installation. This is all the more crucial with both the gin and sassafras oil being absorbed through the body’s mucus membranes such as the lungs and eyeballs.

Drink from the Horn of Desire

A powerful drink, the Horn of Desire, is also being added to Alcoholic Architecture’s menu for you to sup in the lead-up to Valentine’s Day (11th-13th February).

    Horn of Desire

Horny goat weed and angelica infused vodka, passion-fruit juice, vanilla, lemon

This invigorating cocktail for two, is more of a potent fertility ritual than a drink. The archaic drinking horn means it can never be set down before being fully drained, meaning it must constantly circulate, each member of the couple quaffing for glory (and romance).

The draught is fortified with horny goat weed and angelica root, each having a considerable effect. Oral tradition credits the discovey of horny goat weed’s aphrodisiac qualities to goat herders, who noticed that their animals were particularly frisky after grazing in pastures where it grows. Clinical studies have now shown that sperm count and semen density increases within a few hours of the weed’s consumption. The combination of contains icariin, benzene, sterols, tannin, palmitic acid, linoleic acid, oil acid and vitamin E is also said to promote blood flow (thereby supporting erections) and increase nitric oxide levels (which influences estrogen/progesterone levels).
