    Description

Lincoln CLP are holding a fundraising event with a visit by Barry Gardiner Member of Parliament for Brent North. We will be screening a 30 minute documentary focusing on "Fire and Rehire" followed by a Q&A with Barry. Every penny raised at our event will go directly towards our CLP Campaign Fund which in turn
Below is a link to the one-minute trailer.

Despite the many employers using Fire and Rehire and the atrocious behaviour of P&O Ferries sacking 800 of their staff on zoom, this government continues to refuse to deal with insecurity in employment or to protect workers’ rights. Campaigners against Fire and Rehire have visited picket lines at Weetabix, JDE, Clarks Shoes, Richmond College, Goldsmiths, TESCO and many more. Now, in a crucial development for the campaign, Lord Tony Woodley, former Unite General Secretary, has been successful in the list for a Private Member’s Bill this year. Tony has agreed to use his slot to resubmit the bill to stop Fire and Rehire and both Barry and Tony are working together to continue the campaign. Tony laid his bill in the Lords on 15 June 2022 and campaigners hope to be able to push legislation through Parliament this autumn.
