Description
Afrobeat is now one of the most recognisable music genres in the world. The term was coined in the 1970s by Fela Kuti. The sound is an eclectic combination of West African musical styles, including Fuji music and highlife, infused originally with American jazz creating amazing rhythms. This dance workshop is led by world-class performer Akay.
Known on the Afrobeat circuit for her exceptional dance talent and fluid transitions, Akay’s style is a real mix between afro and street dance. She absolutely loves teaching dance and introducing people to dance techniques and the culture she adores. She teaches her own dance choreography and is enthusiastic about others learning. She’ll introduce you to new steps and moves so that you can follow her choreography! Dance away those unwanted calories. Come and get your body moving to the amazing percussive soundtrack of music from across the African continent.
