On Wed 4th February 2015, chart-topping electronic music godfather Adamski & guests will showcase new album 'Revolt', his latest project propelling Waltz into the 21st century (a highly collectable vinyl box-set featuring celebrated artists such as Lee 'Scratch' Perry, Congo Natty and David McAlmont).
Adamski & guests: 8PM sharp
resident djs: JBAG (Jerry Bouthier + Andrea Gorgerino)
With a musical history stretching back to the eighties, Adam 'Adamski' Tinley remains one of pop's great British eccentrics. Inspired by punk ethos, he formed his first band the Stupid Babies at 11 and soon got played on John Peel's show. He swore he'd never compromise and went off on an idiosyncratic journey galvanized by the acid-house and electro revolutions, not forgetting his UK number one 'Killer', which introduced Seal to the world.
Fascinated and inspired by the waltz music he became enamoured with during a spell in Venezuela – Adamski has written and produced an album that proves in more ways than one that he's still at the cutting edge of electronic music for plotting the exciting reincarnation of a music filled with social and cultural significance.
From its very beginnings, the waltz was revolutionary. It still is. Its roots are somewhat obscure – but what is known is that the first music labelled 'waltzen' was a popular, spinning dance of peasants emanating from rural parts of Austria, Bavaria and Bohemia in the mid-eighteenth century. It was danced in 3/4 time with an accent on the first beat of every measure.
From now on, this was to be be Adamski's sole beat of expression, a rebellion against the conformity of a 4/4 saturated world. No wonder the album, a collectable arty wooden box set of 10"s out 23rd Feb, is named 'Revolt'. It features a riotous cast of figures such as Lee "Scratch" Perry, David McAlmont, Bishi, Congo Natty, Asia Argento, Rowdy SS as well as fresh new artists like Shanki, Betty Adewole, Eloise X, Sirena, Jordan Lee... a selection of which will be singing on the night whilst Adam tweaks the tunes. The start of a new dawn not to be missed…
Continental, the label of Jerry Bouthier (half of music project JBAG, part of the Kitsuné family, sound designer of Vivienne Westwood and other fashion brands…) is dedicated to releasing inspired yet fun electronic pop music you can dance to.
