MICHAEL MACK is the founder of London-based art and photography publishing house MACK. www.mackbooks.co.uk
TORBJØRN RØDLAND was born and raised in Stavanger, Norway. He studied photography at Bergen National Academy of the Arts. Since the mid-1990s his work has been exhibited widely. It was included in the main exhibition of the Venice Biennale of 1999. The Astrup Fearnley Museum of Modern Art in Oslo arranged a retrospective exhibition of Rødland’s work as early as in 2003. Between 2004 and 2007 Rødland produced five video works. One of these, titled 132 BPM, was exhibited solo at MOMA PS1 and at the Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art. Rødland has put out several photography books – his seventh, titled Confabulations, was published by MACK in May 2016. After years of short stays in Tokyo, Beijing, Melbourne, Paris, Berlin, Oslo, Tallinn and New York, Torbjørn Rødland has lived and worked in Los Angeles since 2010. This summer his work can be seen in Galerie Eva Presenhuber and Manifesta 11 in Zurich, as a light box in the 9th Berlin Biennial and as a billboard organized by the Whitney Museum of American Art in NYC.
