ADAM THIRLWELL was born in London in 1978. He has twice been named on Granta’s Best of Young British Novelists list. As well as his two novels, Politics and The Escape, he is also the author of a novella, Kapow! – ‘A structured chaos of stories within stories, impossible to put down.’ New York Times – and a project with international novels that includes an essay-book – which won a Somerset Maugham Award – ‘A work of art, a new form.’ A S Byatt, Financial Times – and a compendium of translations edited for McSweeney’s – ‘It demonstrates how Translation is at the centre of Literature. A tremendous book.’ Hans Ulrich Obrist. His work is translated into 30 languages.
ÁLVARO ENRIGUE was born in Mexico and lives in New York City. He has taught at New York University, Princeton University, the University of Maryland and Columbia University. Sudden Death—his first novel to be translated into English - was awarded the prestigious Herralde Prize in Spain, the Elena Poniatowska International Novel Award in Mexico, and the Barcelona Prize for Fiction.
