A Chill Afternoon on the Regent's Canal & Broadway Market

May 10 2014 13:30 - 15:30

Bethnal Green Station (next to Sainsbury’s), E2 0ET London

Our team invites you to join us for an amazing Hype Experience on Regent's Canal!

  • We'll take a stroll along the water
  • Visit Broadway and Netil markets - Two of Hackney’s most popular local markets (!)
  • Taste innovative, signature drinks at The Proud Archivist , a wonderful venue on the canal
  • Explore one of the cities most unique, up and coming areas

We think that one of the best ways to see the real London is to take a walk along an old canal towpath. Did you know that the Regent's Canal stretches from Paddington to Limehouse? Far away from the usual tourist hotspots, and that the true breadth of the capital lies spread out along its banks? From multi-million pound architectural masterpieces to rundown council estates, from gasworks to hi-tech offices, from mosques to markets and from rabbits to ducks - all London life is here!

Do you know what it's like to live on a canal boat? You'll learn about this quirky style of living and the latest excitement among the boating community while sipping a special cocktail with us.

Oh, and have you visited Broadway market, which has been up and running since 1890? No? We'll visit it together and you'll hear from the markets founder. He'll tell the story from the beginning, discuss the vibrancy of the local neighborhood, and emphasize why he places such importance on responsible, eco-friendly ideals. The market prides itself on using renewable energy sources and recycling as much waste as possible.

Finally, we will head to The Proud Archivist - a uniquely, special East London space incorporating a cozy coffee shop and restaurant within an art gallery and a library area.

We will sample one of the most unique dishes the Rarebits, which change from Welsh to English, Scottish, Irish every so often. Each of the dishes has its own history and narrative. To have a little fun, we will try their signature ‘Three Bolshevics’ cocktail and some Bloody Marries to finish the afternoon with a kick!

The tour is around 3 hours long.

Ticket with tastings includes The Three Bolshevics or Bloody Mary cocktail + Welsh Rarebit.

The meeting point is Bethnal Green Station (next to Sainsbury’s)
