    Description

This is London's largest student-run energy conference, organised by the Energy Societies of London's leading universities: University College London, London School of Economics and Imperial College London.

The focus of this year's Summit is Decentralised Energy - The New Paradigm?

    Panels:

    1. Technology: Does Current Technology Suffice?

    • This panel will be a discussion of the development and implementation of smart grids and energy storage technology, led by scientists and engineers.

    2. Developing Countries: How does Decentralised Energy Contribute to Development?

    • This panel will highlight the contribution of decentralised forms of energy in developing countries without or with limited electrical grids. Attention will also be paid to the role of microgrids in providing rural electrification and enhancing energy access. Topics to be covered include the growth of decentralised energy systems in developing countries and how these systems can be integrated into expanding electrical grids.

    3. Mature Markets: How Disruptive is Decentralised Energy?

    • This panel focuses on decentralised energy in developed markets. In particular, it will investigate the regulatory, financial and technological hurdles of integrating decentralised energy systems such as smart grids and community energy into traditional energy infrastructure. It will also explore how technologies such as Demand Response Systems and Virtual Power Plants are being used to maintain grid stability and help consumers increase energy efficiency.

Speakers include Norbert Schwieters (Global Energy, Utilites and Mining Leader, PwC) Jorge Pikunic (Managing Director, Centrica) and many more.
