COVID-19 has had a major impact on our daily lives, bringing whole countries to a standstill.
If you’re an event organiser, these are tough times. Large gatherings are mostly banned, so you’ve likely had to postpone your events or cancel them altogether.
But amidst the general gloom, we’ve discovered something uplifting: Our organisers have quickly adapted to the new reality and found a way to keep going.
We’d like to share a few of the creative and often surprising ways they’re using Billetto. We hope they’ll give you inspiration to keep your own business afloat during the outbreak.
1. Takeaway
We know. Billetto is an event ticketing site. It wasn’t built with restaurant deliveries in mind. Yet, with the right setup, it works perfectly for takeaways.
Example: Bror Ditlev (Denmark)
Bror Ditlev is a Danish gourmet restaurant that offers tapas and delicious dinner menus. Like other food places, they had to switch to a takeaway-only model due to COVID-19.
So they’ve created separate “events” on Billetto for different dates with “tickets” for each menu type. This setup lets Bror Ditlev limit the amount of available meals based on their capacity and keep track of delivery times.
What it’s perfect for…
This setup can work for any food establishment that does home delivery or offers takeaway options:
- Cafes
- Restaurants
- Ice cream shops
- …and so on.

2. Virtual party
Just because you can’t go out, doesn’t mean you can’t party with others and listen to a bit of great music. Why not set up a virtual party for people to enjoy in the comfort of their homes?
Example: Love Lockdown (Netherlands)
That’s exactly what Dutch organiser Laura Melenhorst has done on March 21, when she set up a “COVID-eo online party” with R&B, Soul, and Hip Hop DJs.
Hosting a virtual party is easy thanks to the many options you have to live stream events. Since Billetto lets you customise the order confirmation emails sent to ticket buyers, you can insert the link to your live stream there. That way, anyone who buys a ticket can join in.
What it’s perfect for…
Any event that involves performers entertaining an audience:
- Concerts
- DJ performances
- Comedy shows
- …and so on.

3. Online class or workshop
If you can’t teach your students directly, you might still be able to do so online.
Example: Corsi di Yoga Online con Lucian Besi (Italy)
This Italian organiser offers online yoga sessions to guide people through the stressful period of quarantine.
As with a virtual party, you could set up a live stream for your own class and send the link to it in a Billetto confirmation email to anyone who signs up.
What it’s perfect for…
Any event that involves an instructor guiding students through an activity:
- Fitness classes
- Arts and crafts workshops
- Meditation sessions
- …and so on

4. Online conference or webinar
Similarly, your seminar or conference can often take the form of an online event that attendees stream in their homes.
Example: “What the Coronavirus means for your investments” webinar (Denmark)
Investor Morten Bang hosted a very timely webinar about the impact of COVID-19 on people’s investments. Unsurprisingly, it quickly sold out.
If you or a group of speakers have knowledge to share on a specific topic, hosting a webinar of your own may be the way to go. You can use Billetto’s “Guest list” function to email a link to your participants shortly before the webinar starts.
What it’s perfect for…
Events that primarily consist of speakers presenting to an audience:
- Webinars
- Conferences
- Educational classes
- …and so on.

5. Food or drink tasting (yes, really)
We’ll be honest: This one had us scratching our heads, too. Yet it appears you don’t have to gather everyone in the same location to put together a food or drink tasting event.
Example: Virtual beer tasting (Sweden)
Stigbergets Brewery in Sweden created a virtual beer tasting event to showcase their beers. Participants have to purchase the specified beers on their own. The hosts then share details on how each beer is brewed and its unique taste. All during a live stream.
For your event, you may consider shipping samples of food or drinks directly to your participants. It might make your tickets more expensive but spares everyone the hassle of doing the shopping on their own.
What it’s perfect for…
Any event that revolves around tasting certain food or drinks:
- Wine tasting
- Whiskey tasting
- Cheese tasting
- …and so on.
