On 28th & 29th of January the German city of Stuttgart hosts the first highlight event of the year: Fest Versprochen - the fair for weddings & special celebrations. Following their successful debut last year, the makers Karin Haller and Rosa Pöttinger repeat the festivities in the trendy setting of Wizemann-Areal.

Fest Versprochen is a fair like no other: it prides itself on the quality of the hand-picked exhibitors and well planned fair programme. The fair attendees get to taste delicious offerings from the caterers and small food trucks; learn more about special venues for unforgettable parties; check the work of talented photographers, dedicated wedding planners and numerous other detail-oriented service providers.

To get to know more about Fest Versprochen, we asked Karin and Rosa a few questions about the organisation of the fair, their motivation behind it and the city Stuttgart as event location. We also get their expert insight into 5 things that make a celebration special.

How did you come up with the idea for the fair? What’s your motivation behind it?

Karin: I’ve been working with decorations and flower arrangements for weddings for nearly 6 years and noticed that many couples I have been working with were looking for something special and unconventional, but there wasn’t really any wedding fair that would specifically focus on this, so I decided to create one myself. As I didn’t have any prior experience in organising a fair, I’ve asked my friend Rosa if she could help me develop this concept. She has many years of experience in the event and marketing industry and she agreed right away.

This is the second time you’re organising this fair. What do you find easier and what is more difficult this time?

Karin + Rosa: We can draw a lot of conclusions from the first fair for sure. This simplified some things for us: what needs to be ordered and when, who does what, how to schedule certain things throughout the year. It was a lot easier to find sponsors for the fair this year. As our concept is now well-known we’ve received an overwhelming amount of exhibitor requests. It makes it a bit more difficult as well - the expectations are much higher this time. Our first fair was great - the second one is going to be even better! We want the visitors and the exhibitors to be as happy as last year, and we expect twice as many guests this year.

The fair takes place in Stuttgart. What makes the city interesting for hosting such an event?

Karin + Rosa: Stuttgart has a lot to offer: there are many creative people, small artisan shops and interesting venues. The city loves to celebrate and people are willing to pay for quality services. The surrounding areas are interested in the creative spots in the “city” and this attracts quite a few people from the region as well. It’s the city that we love to live in and contribute to. We don’t exclude the possibility to extend our concept to other cities as well.

5 things that make a celebration extra-special:

  1. Festive but comfortable atmosphere in a great location
  2. Guests who want to have a party, like to dance and have fun
  3. Good music - a playlist that you love to listen to yourself
  4. Delicious food and great drinks
  5. That the hosts are relaxed and easygoing!
