Art for refugees

Feb 22 2017 18:00 - 19:45

EBRD, 1 Exchange Square, EC2A 2JN London

Millions of people have fled their homes countries over the last few years, seeking safety in Greece, Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey and beyond. Because we believe that there is more we can do, we have decided to fundraise money for ECHO100Plus, a registered charity providing solace to refugees arriving to Greece.

  • Are you curious about how arts can transform and save refugees’ lives?
  • Would you be interested in buying artworks from refugees?
  • Have you ever wondered how to help?
  • Do you want to learn about challenges on the ground?

Please come along for an enchanting and dynamic tapestry of tales by an award-winning Lebanese story teller, Alia Alzougbi; and the vibes of talented and innovative Syrian kanun player Maya Youssef and the careful selection of paintings from “Art Residence Aley” by Raghad Mardini.

Echo100Plus is an Austrian charity founded in 2012 committed to alleviating the suffering of the refugees and local communities, partnering with Greek and international organisations. Currently, Echo100Plus manages projects on the mainland and the island of Leros, including an extensive volunteer program, food, hygiene and clothes procurement and distribution. The projects have already brought over 250 volunteers from 25+ countries to do everything from teaching languages to unaccompanied minors, to handing out food and more. As the refugee crisis continues, Echo100Plus is exploring new sites, projects and initiatives to further support those in need.
